 | The Tamahere Dad’s Army was started in early 2013 with two aims: 1. To provide a workforce to get jobs done around the school and community. 2. To allow the men within the Tamahere community to get together and talk (preferably over a couple of beers!!) Contact: James Yearsley, Acting OC (until we can find someone better!) The initial few months since the formation of the Tamahere Dad’s Army have gone a long way to achieving this and the ranks continue to grow. The pre-requisites to join Tamahere Dad’s Army are that you are a Dad with kids at the Tamahere Model Country School; are an ex-Dad of the school; a future Dad of the school or have the possibility of ever being a Dad at the school; and be over 18 ... so basically anyone except women and kids! {Sorry ladies...this is a men’s version of your coffee mornings and we strive to earn our socialisng time through hard labour!} I would like to thank all those who have donated their time, sweat and blood to helping out on the working bees and for donations/offers of paint (Tony Schoen), tools (Martin Dent), plant equipment (Regal Haulage) and spare building materials (Paul Hayes and Waikato Aggregates) that have made the work possible. | Recent Jobs and Events; • Clearing of the caretaker’s shed • Re-Mulching of the playgrounds • Paving and roofing of storage area • Gutter clean and roof clearing for the start of winter • Emptying and tidy of the ‘Green Shed’ • Carpets for quiz night • Beer and sausages evening • Good George beer night • Informal welcome drinks TOTAL MANHOURS OF WORK = 150+ hours happily donated to the school
