It was our pleasure to host local Member of Parliament Tim van de Molen and Invercargill MP Sarah Dowie on Monday as they visited our school with a special focus on our environmental projects. Two Student Ambassadors, Grace and Casey, welcomed Mr van de Molen and Ms Dowie before they enjoyed a visit to our school garden where they learned of our plans for the area.

We were able to show them our dedicated compost area, our developing lizard garden site and the fruit trees which have been planted on our boundary by Hillcrest High School students.  Their visit was perfectly timed to talk about the special message of our Pirongia Syndicate’s production “Mauri of Pirongia”.

Mr van de Molen and Ms Dowie are with Casey and Grace as they learn about our journey as we progressed towards our Silver Award as an Enviro School.

This was a wonderful opportunity for some of our students to show our dedication to the environment as a school , and the importance we place on doing our part in caring for our beautiful world.
