We are very excited to announce that we have been given, provisionally $100,000 in grants towards the building of our new swimming pool complex. Huge thanks goes to the Grassroots Trust with a $70,000 grant and to Trillian Trust with a $30,000 grant. These grants have suddenly really launched our pool project into reality building on our amazing cookbook sales success. In fact these grants are causing us to go full speed ahead. To be given these grants we have to complete the parts of the project we have asked for within the next few months. This means we will be needing to take immediate action. At present we are waiting on Ministry of Education approval and then the Waikato District Council's consents. There will be some significant changes that we have to be prepared for before we achieve our goal.

Initial impacts will include:

  • Removal of 3 trees from the site - more trees will be planted in other spaces.

  • Demolition of the old swimming pool and changing sheds.

  • We will fill this area with the topsoil. Later this area will be the space for our new classrooms and possibly an Administration building. The hedge will be damaged but we are planning to plant another one by our new pool.

  • The cricket pitch as we know it will no longer have the space so we will need to create another one. Maybe part of the reserve and Northern District’s help.

  • Our soccer fields will be impacted until we have the extra reserve space to run around on.

  • We will have to re jig our space for Ag Day and Group Day - but hopefully once again the Reserve will allow for overflow.

The exciting thing is we will be progressing quickly towards our goal of a  quality swimming complex for our school and community. Once this is achieved, we can re arrange our site to suite our growing needs.

To fully complete our project we are still in need of more fundraising and sponsorship  dollars. If you have some great ideas or want to sponsor a lane at $6000, we are keen to hear from you or a business that you may know. We will be setting up a sponsorship page to help with this. Any skills or help with our project would be appreciated. Please let the office know or Camille on 021 320 145.
