Swimming Pool - Open to Community: Trial 3rd January - mid April 2018

We are all thoroughly enjoying our wonderful new pool facility and it is great to have it open for this hot spell. Water Safety is our first unit - before everyone heads away for the summer holidays. The committee has been working hard to develop systems so we can open the facility to the community for the summer. With significant Health and Safety compliance and regulations along with the added complexity and quality of our complex, just letting people go in with a key is no longer possible. We have regular testing and monitoring compliance to achieve along with the security and care of the facility which now involves alarms, cameras and taking on and off significant pool covers. We can not sell direct entry to the pool without having paid lifeguards on duty at all times.

What we have instead developed are two passes, Gold and Silver. The Silver pass is for families to use with each adult allowed to bring three children whom they are the lifeguards for. We will have a facilities manager on site on most days from 1pm to 7pm to allow Silver pass holders access to the pool. The Gold pass is for adults who wish to use our facility for training purposes and these pass holders can enter the facility and train along with another adult at many times. They can also take up to 3 children with them during Community Access times.

We appreciate there seem to be so many rules and constraints but please realise we need to look after our facility e.g the use of swim caps - to keep hair out of the filters and restrictions to keep everyone safe. It is Our Board of Trustees responsibility to ensure everyone’s safety. 2018 early season, January - April, will be a trial to see how these systems work and what usage is needed and when.

We do want our community to be able to use our pool, especially after all the support given but as yet we don’t have the financial support from Waikato District to have this as a community pool unlike many school pools in use e.g. Hillcrest, Boys High and Te Rapa in partnership with the Hamilton District Council.

If you wish to get a pass for this summer please click here to see our School Pool website. You will find information about Gold and Silver passes, an induction video, induction form and membership form. The Community usage rules and policies are also available. Please read these carefully and make sure you are happy with them before signing up for your passes.

Camille will be available at the TCC on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (11th - 13th December) from 8-9am to sign up pass holders. Gaining your pass will involve having read and signed all sheets, having a photo taken / submitted and being inducted through the facility either physically or by watching our induction video (and having paid of course! Eftpos will be available).

To facilitate this process this year - paperwork will also be sent home on Friday in ‘Eldest and Only’ children’s bags.

Pool Monitors Needed:

The opening hours of these passes is dependant on having enough Pool Monitor Volunteers who are able to be rostered onto pool testing and taking off and on the pool covers. If you think you could help us with this please contact Camille on camillestranks@me.com

Fridge &/or Fridge Freezer:

We are in need of a small fridge and freezer or combined unit for the swimming pool office over the summer. We are hoping to be able to sell a few ice creams to happy swimmers. If you have an old or spare appliance that we could have or borrow - we would be very grateful.
