NZEI Strike Action - Reminder:- Tuesday 13th November - Our school will be closed for instruction.

There will be further strike action by the primary teachers and principal members of NZEI on Tuesday 13th November.  This is part of nationwide rolling strikes. Our Board of Trustees advises that due to all of our teachers being part of NZEI Union our school will be closed for instruction on this day.  We are sorry for the inconvenience this may bring to our families but our staff feel strongly that education needs to become a priority area to properly support all students and teachers.


“The decision to take further strike action was not taken lightly by NZEI and they are aware of the impact strike action can have.  We need to ensure the Government understands how serious we are about the need for urgent changes now. Schools are facing a teacher shortage, with over half of schools reporting they didn’t have enough teachers in Term Three. There has been a 40% drop in people training to be teachers, while school rolls continue to climb.  The Ministry is currently engaged in an international recruitment drive, in a desperate bid to meet the need. Schools struggle daily to find enough teachers to meet their relief teacher needs.

There is also a critical need for increased support for children with additional learning needs and to look at teacher workload and pay to retain passionate, high-quality teachers in our system.”


Once again we apologise for the inconvenience our strike will bring but we are trying to draw a line in the sand. We want to stand up for education now and for the future. We hope you will support us in our stand. Tuesday 13th November is an investment for the future of your children’s education.

Star Turf Indoor Football Centre are offering a 1 day ‘Holiday Programme’ for children affected by the Tuesday 13th Teacher Strike. They need a minimum of 10 bookings and bookings are restricted to 30. The program will run from 9.00am to 3.00pm (doors open at 8.30am for drop off) and the cost will be $35.00 per child with no additional late pickup fee if the children are collected before 5.00pm (after this time a late pickup fee of $10 will be charged).
