What a great term we have had.  With only 9 weeks - actually 41 days, the time has flown by! Although it has been short - so much has been achieved; your children are now well settled into their new classes, understanding the expectations and routines of their new age level. New friends have been made and a lot of social growth has occurred.  Our overarching topic of relationships is a sound starting point for the start of any school year. Academically all students have been concentrating on their literacy and numeracy skills and have undertaken a number of tests, so teachers can identify specific areas that need working on. The material world in Science has been explored at different levels using the contexts of Gold Mining in the Maungatautari Syndicate and the Hot Air Balloons in the rest of the school. The use of BYOD ( Bring Your Own Devices) in our Senior School has seen a huge step forwards in computer skills and e-learning.

We have certainly made the most of the beautiful weather we have had this year with our Whanau Tabloids, Swimming Sports, Triathlon, School Camps to Waihi Beach and Junior Tabloids. Not to mention the extra Black Caps celebration with our non stop Cricket Day and the WaiBOP Football coaching that all children have experienced. The PTA has been busy also, and we have all been able to enjoy an outstanding Pumpkin Night, as well as a great Golf Tournament.

With Meet the Teachers Evening and our recent Learning Conferences, hopefully all of you are feeling well informed about your children’s learning achievements and progress. The Progress and Achievement Books and senior Blogs will add to this when you receive them and enjoy celebrating them with your children on Thursday.

Thank you all for your support and involvement over our first term. I hope you and your children can enjoy a safe and well earned rest, with lots of laughter and special family times together - kia kotahi.
