Curriculum Update

posted Aug 10, 2017, 5:46 PM by Reception @TMCS

Communication is the overarching theme of this term and I am sure you are aware of the speeches being written and rehearsed. We look forward to sharing these with you in Weeks 5 and 6.

Public speaking is such an important skill for our students future career opportunities. Having confidence to stand up in public and the ability to communicate effectively is hugely important and a skill that we value at our school. This term we will also be communicating through the Arts - Dance, Drama, Music and the Visual Arts. Being able to express ideas and opinions in this way is another important skill for our young people to gain and to enjoy experimenting with. Passions may be ignited that will lead to lifelong involvement and enjoyment.

We are combining our communication through the Arts, with our Social Sciences - deep learning area, celebrating the different cultures of New Zealand, our biculturalism and our multiculturalism. I am sure by the end of this term you will know a bit more about the different cultural groups we have in our school and probably have shared something special about your family's origins.

There is quite a buzz developing around this topic. If you have something to share with us we are keen to hear from you.
