There are always a number of governance areas covered in these meetings but there was a key discussion point on the night regarding the MOE's future funding proposal.  This proposal will dramatically change the way schools are funded in the future, it will place principals and Boards of Trustees in a situation where they will need to make trade-offs between teaching staff and other costs schools face.

Waveney has been actively involved in information and feedback sessions with the Ministry, around our Model Country perspectives surrounding this proposal and our staff will also be attending a paid Union meeting on the 12th September to learn more.  This is significant for our school, all schools in fact and we will keep you updated as more information around this is released.

We are pleased to say that our Innovative Learning Environment (ILE) renovations for Miro 13 & Pukatea14 are nearing completion and shortly further property modifications paid for by the ministry, including a fence will be starting. The discussions around opening a further New Entrants classroom in Term 4 triggered discussion around our steadily climbing roll.  The board will be looking to have a strategy session over the coming months to look at our options with regards to increased classroom space to accommodate the growing demand as well as our drastic shortage of storage.

Policies discussed and that are currently under review and were up for discussion were the  Healthy Eating and International Students policies.

Well that is probably a wrap, covered the key points. Finally keep your eyes peeled for a "Communications Survey" that will be hitting your email boxes over the coming weeks

along with a Uniform Review Survey.  We look forward to hearing your comments and ideas.
