Welcome to the newsletter from the Board of Trustees (BOT).  We meet once a month and regularly share our news with you, so you are up to date with our key projects and happenings.

We have welcomed Owen Culliney and Ian Potter to the Board following the recent Board of Trustees elections. Jeremy Waters is the new Chair and we are currently allocating roles and responsibilities to ensure all areas of our school operations are efficiently overseen.

We are fortunate to have had so many committed members of the Board serve before us, that have governed our school with wisdom and vision.  They have ensured we are not only providing the best possible opportunities for learning and personal development for our tamariki, but also providing a thriving teaching environment to attract the wonderful staff we are so fortunate to have.

The Board has a continuing focus on the maintenance and development of our property to provide quality facilities, resources and the wide variety of opportunities available to our children, which has seen us well established for the recent and future expected growth of our school. We are extremely excited to have secured government funding to enable us to extend and upgrade some of our buildings to cater for our growing school. This combined with our ongoing maintenance programme allows us to provide the best possible environment for learning that we can.

We are excited for what the future holds and welcome our parents and caregivers to contact any Board members should you wish to discuss anything.

PTA Fundraising

Sincere thanks to our wonderful PTA, the various hard working committees and school community for the fantastic events we’ve enjoyed throughout the year. They have been very successful fundraising events. We are extremely grateful for the contributions from this years’ fundraising, which is all going towards upgrading our playground and buying new equipment. The PTA has given us an amazing $40,000 towards this project and it is expected that a further $30,000 is needed to achieve our goal.

The Board of Trustees would like to thank the whānau who have so far paid their donation this year.  We are very grateful for your donations, as they enable us to pay for extra specialist staff we employ like teacher aides and funds are also used for building projects and maintenance of school owned property.

The Board wishes to sincerely thank all our wonderful teaching and support staff for their dedication and commitment throughout the year.  To our school families and our tamariki, thank you for your continued support and contribution that you all provide in so many ways to our school.  We wish you all a very safe, happy and relaxing holiday and look forward to another successful learning-filled year in 2020!

As a board we are very proud of our school, our teachers and wonderful tamariki.  We have great passion for working towards Tamahere Model Country School being the best it can be.

Nga Mihi,
