Battle of the Schools - Track Cycling

posted Dec 13, 2018, 6:46 PM by Reception @TMCS

What an incredible atmosphere at the Avantidrome on Saturday 1st December. Tamahere had four teams entered in the annual Battle of the Schools track cycling competition. All four teams of Tamahere children cycled so hard with such passion and energy. The six weeks of weekly training had been invaluable and we had four good teams of riders who could stay on their bikes at speed all the way around the velodrome.

Tamahere Tahi consisted of Zoe t, Sam L, Fletcher A, Joel S and Iona M. They can be extremely proud of coming 4th in the top division.

Tamahere Rua riders were Jack C, Luke G, Nick Gand Kurt F. This team had to compete against Year Seven and Eight teams and were extremely close to qualifying to the finals.

Tamahere Wha (Safia M Sienna M, Madison F and Hazel G) and Tamahere Toru (Lantern L, Sean O, Ruby M and Luca W) were against each other in Group One. These teams battled hard in this group with Tamahere Toru winning a bronze medal.

Congratulations goes to all the children who rode, you did Tamahere proud. A massive thank you goes out to all the parent helpers and team managers. We couldn’t have done it without you.

It was a fantastic day out.
