Paid Union Meeting (PUM)

We have been advised that on Monday 25th June 1:30pm Tamahere Model Country School teachers and support staff will be required to attend a paid union meeting, starting at 1:30pm.  As a result of this meeting we will not have staff available for teaching classes but our school will remain open to care for a few students who are unable to be accommodated by families. We will have a few teacher aides and student teachers on site to help with this if needed. Please contact the school if you require this cover.

Classes will conclude at the commencement of lunchtime at 12:20pm.

While we appreciate that for many parents/caregivers the timing of this meeting will cause some inconvenience we want to stress that the timing of these type of meetings is out of our control.  We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your support.

This meeting will be an update on a meeting earlier in the year when discussions took place on how NZEI would proceed with Teacher’s next collective bargaining rounds. .

Reminder: Teacher Only Day on Fieldays Friday

As recently advised, the Fieldays prefer our school to be closed on the Friday of Fieldays to reduce the congestion of traffic at our roundabouts. We ask that families taking children to the Fieldays please do so on the Friday to allow less interruptions during the week with students away.

We will be using Fieldays Friday for a Teacher Only Day - we have outside facilitators joining staff to help with strategies to support our students with writing and reading challenges and Dyslexia as well as supporting students who show anxieties and social challenges.

We apologise for the inconvenience that a closed day can cause working parents. Our Grandparents Day has been added to the Monday to allow for extended family time for those with grandparents traveling long distances.
