Welcome to winter! I hope everyone is enjoying the sunny days especially after the prior wet weeks. School sport is now well underway and I hope everyone is enjoying supporting their children and school team.
Events This Term
We have a busy rest of the term coming up. We have Grandparents day on the 20th, School disco on the 23rd and the midwinter dip on the 26th. These are great events that the whole school community enjoy children and parents alike. We are still requiring volunteers especially grandparent’s day, such as assisting with cup of tea coffee making and setting up morning tea table. The school disco requires volunteers to assist with decorating the TCC, handing out pizzas, selling glow sticks and supervision. If you can only spare one hour this will be greatly embraced, thank you. Contact us on: firstname.lastname@example.org. For those that have already put their names forward we will be in contact with you soon, with more details.
New PTA Committee Members
Last week we held the monthly PTA meeting, and new positions were filled:
· Chairperson: Debbie Spice
· Vice Chairperson: Belle Woods
· Current Treasurer: Leah Shallgrass
We are currently looking to fill the position of secretary, so please if you feel this is something you can volunteer to do please contact me on: email@example.com, or if you require further information on the role/position.
I wish to Thank Tania Sherwin for her time as Chairperson and her amazing newsletters. I also want to acknowledge Hayley Rogers for her role as secretary ( due to work commitments she is unable to perform the full role as secretary), however, if no one volunteers for the secretary position Hayley will consider sharing the position as minute taker.
I’d like to introduce myself to those who are new to the school or simply haven’t meet me yet.
My family moved here in October 2013 from Te Awamutu. I have two children, Gemma year 4 and Jackson year 2. My husband Allan Spice has just been elected onto the school board and he is actively involved in the school community i.e. Rugby rippa coach, assisting cricket coaching and Dads army.
I am passionate about our school and community and have been involved with my children’s sport teams, pumpkin night, Grandparents days, school discos and in previous PTA functions.
Please feel free to introduce yourself to me or simply attend one of our PTA meetings. Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 5th July 7pm.
Hello, I'm Belle Woods, your new Vice Chairperson of the TMCS PTA. I have 2 children attending TMCS, Ryan in Pohutukawa 8 and Mia in Harakeke 18. I also have a son Zak who is at St Johns College.
I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into work with our PTA . We have some great events coming up which I am sure you will get behind and support...
Don't forget, as parents of our school you are all part of our PTA and welcome to attend our PTA meetings, you never know what exciting things you may end up getting involved in, in and around our school! Many hands make light work, if we can all work together as a parent community we will be able to achieve some great things for our school. Just look at what our amazing Cookbook team has accomplished!!
Keep an eye out for what the PTA has organised for the parents of our school, we have some exciting events coming next term... Belle
Do you have any spare board games or indoor games that are no longer used in your family? On wet weather lunchtimes the teachers would love to put them to use! The school is ‘short’ on wet weather indoor activities to keep our children occupied during lunchtimes, so if you any to donate to our school please can you drop them off to the school office. Thank you
· PTA minutes and recent financial report are available to any parent of the school, just ask your Class Friend of the PTA to forward you a copy
I hope to meet you all at our up and coming events and/or next PTA meeting on 5th July in staffroom 7pm
