Impetigo (School Sores)

posted May 24, 2017, 6:39 PM by Reception @TMCS

School sores are a common infection in children that is easily spread and often occurs on the lower legs.  School sores can easily be spread by direct contact but also indirectly through the sharing of towels etc.

The best way to limit the spread of the infection is through good hygiene, keeping fingernails short and at home - ensuring the infected person baths separately.

It is very important that school sores are treated early to prevent the development of a serious skin infection and to stop the spread to other people.  For more information please follow this link or contact our Public Health Nurse, Sara-Jane Murison on 838 3565 x 22147 or email sara-jane.murison@waikatodhb.health.nz
