Hockey Tournament

posted Sep 16, 2015, 7:40 PM by Reception @TMCS

On the 15th of September 22 senior hockey players competed a Rural Schools Hockey Tournament at Gallagher Hockey Centre. The three teams played 8 games throughout the day. The Sassy Sisters and Tamahere Trick Sticks won all their games! The Sassy Sisters and Tamahere Trick Sticks both came first in their pools and made it to finals and had to play off for first and second place.

The boys (Trick Sticks!) played very well winning by 1 point in the last minute and came 1st and the Sassy Sisters came 2nd. The Tamahere Rebels played off for 5 and 6th place and ending up coming 5th! All in all TMCS did very well in their first big hockey tournament. We are looking forward to next year where we have qualified for the competitive competition! We had a fun filled day of hockey!

Thank you to all the players for their great effort in the competition.  Thank you to Shan Sundararaj and Brian Meinung for their awesome umpiring.  A comment from an umpire during the day ‘The Tamahere Rebels conducted themselves extremely well, and had the best sportsmanship in the tournament.

A big thank you to Mrs Copponi for organizing the day and to all the parents who helped with transport and managing the teams.
